Pass it forward
Rules and safety.
TrueToSize introduces people. It does not hold money, ship items, verify them, or arbitrate disputes. These rules exist so that the introduction is worth making.
What can be listed
- Running shoes, leggings and jeans from the catalogue. Bras and tights are not listed here: shipping usually costs more than the item and most platforms restrict used hosiery.
- Clean items, honestly described on two axes: how much it was worn (unworn with tags, unworn, worn once or twice, worn three to ten times, well worn) and which flaws it has (pilling, fading, stretching, sole wear, scuffs, stains). A washed and odour-free declaration is required.
- Nothing described in a sexual way, nothing unwashed, nothing counterfeit.
How a handoff happens
- Within one country only. Cross-border parcels between Canada and the United States now attract duties on almost any value; we do not match across the border.
- Under about $40: meet locally. Choose a police safe-exchange zone or a busy public place, in daylight.
- Higher value or no local match: link the listing you already made on Poshmark, eBay, GOAT or a similar platform and let their payment protection and labels do the work.
- First message stays on TrueToSize. Links are refused in every message, and contact details, payment handles and off-site apps are refused in the first one; the form tells you why.
- Listings last 60 days and renew with one click. We remind you a week before.
- The owner chooses who takes the item. Both sides then confirm the handoff, and the taker says whether it fitted. Completed and unconfirmed counts are public on every profile.
- Three open flags hide a listing until a person has reviewed it. You can block anyone from messaging you.
Paying each other
- In person: cash, or a payment with buyer protection.
- Never Interac e-Transfer, PayPal Friends & Family, gift cards or crypto to someone you have not met. These cannot be reversed and are the most common scam in Canada right now.
- Never click a “payment link” someone sends you. A real e-Transfer never asks you to enter bank credentials on a third-party page.
What TrueToSize does and does not do
We do: keep your messages, show completed and unconfirmed handovers on profiles, investigate reports, and remove accounts that break these rules.
We do not: decide who is right, refund, pursue payment, guarantee condition or size, or take part in any money transfer.
Fit reports stay independent
Listing an item never changes how its fit report is weighted, and a completed handover does not boost your reports. The two are stored and computed separately, on purpose.
